I am a whistleblower that was working at the Department of Labor during the pandemic. I feel I witnessed gross negligence. I was there on a temporary basis and my contract was only 6 months. I am incredibly concerned about the billions of dollars that have gone missing from our federal agencies after seeing a worstening situation for the public while Elon Musk runs into our federal agences and engages in suspicious behavior. What I know is there were a lot of people struggling with a lot of difficulty who were unable to claim their government benefits during the pandemic. There were a lot of people having problems and facing things like forclosure and we did little to help them. There was little concern in regards to fixing the flood of accounts that had fraud holds on them and for that reason many of the people in my state who were trying to claim unemployment were unable to collect benefits they rightly qualified for.
In 2023 I broke my foot. I tried claiming unemployment and saw that nearly two years since the beginning of the pandemic little to nothing had changed at the department. I was unable to get the unemployment benefits I needed while on a serious injury and as a resoult had to deal with financial losses.The Department of Labor now claims that I owe them money that I was never paid out.
My bank accounts have repeatedly shut off and at this point my credit has been destroyed. This is for a multitude of reasons. I believe that all of the reasons that I have lost everything in my life and my finances have gone to shit is because of Donald Trump and his maga friends. I believe it is incredibly likely that they are the reason so much money has gone missing at our federal agencies over the course of the pandemic.
While I was on a broken foot and unable to collect unemployment that was due to me I submitted literally hundreds of job applilcations a day online and eventually got a work from home job. I was working for a 3rd party call center whose client was a company called Altice aka Optimum USA. I noticed what looked like suspicious financial behavior on customer accounts and reported it to management multiple times because I was unable to resolve these complaints with the tools available to me. Our call center was interacting with foreign call centers in the midst of all of this and I feel like we were being met with acts of coercion in the middle of all of this to prevent us from taking action on these accounts. I was stripped of my ability to escalate calls due to the fact that I had been escalating complaints where customers had overcharges which I was unable to resolve. After this I spent several hours on the phone with a customer whose bill total was more than the total of the items on his bill. I had already received several phone calls that were similar in nature. I worked with at least 3 supervisors from our localized call center trying to find resolution to this customer's issue and we were unable to figure out why his bill was more than the items bill. We were unable to resolve the complaint. The corporate offices would not allow us to escalate the complaint. After several hours on the phone, the resolution I was told to give this customer was to tell him to call back. Shortly after this I was removed from the phones by the corporate offices. My supervisor told me 'they are looking for a reason to fire you'. I was ordered to navigate the internal system of procedures while I waited for a week to be fired. I was than fired after a full week of getting paid to essentially do nothing. This is not normal behavior in the call center environment. I filed an SEC case on this employer. I also reached out to two state attorney generals as well as the FTC and FCC and Department of Labor. On July 25th, 2023, only a few months after I filed my SEC case, the company's co-founder was arrested in Portugal on fraud allegations. This sparked an international investigation. The United States did nothing. No action was taken. The legal requirements for this company to keep its records have passed. This case was ignored and as a result, the law has not been enforced and justice has been denied. Justice has been denied not only for me but for the hundreds of customers in the United States who this company was likely stealing from. I lost a job I desperately needed. At the time the government was unresponsive in providing benefits to not only myself but thousands of other citizens throughout the nation. I was lucky I was even able to find employment in such a situation and this is only part of the beginning of what has been an ongoing and very serious struggle I have been forced to deal with as everything I own is stripped away from me due to acts of corruption within the United States government.
